Four Holiday Theme Parties Decked With Flowersby Shelby Shy on December 6, 2011 at 9:04 am
There is nothing better than getting together with friends and family for the holidays. This year host a Christmas party with a twist. Here are a few fun theme ideas for Christmas and floral decorating tips to get your holiday party started.
Mele Kalikimaka (Hawaiian Christmas) Party: While some dream of a white Christmas, I’m dreaming of warm weather and palm trees. Go for Aloha! Incorporate a tropical flavor into your Christmas party by adding red ginger to a tall arrangement. In this arrangement, we used red ginger, white hydrangea, greenery and red glitter ornaments. Be sure to set your iPod to play Bing Crosby’s “Mele Kalikimaka” to really get in the mood.
I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas Party: If you truly want a white Christmas, then throw a “White Christmas” party. Here we created a white tablescape with white callas and white dendrobium orchids underwater with a large floral pouring out of the top. For interest we added beautiful cymbidium orchid plants in blinged-out pots.
Christmas in Candy Land Party: Bring the popular children’s board game to life. Mix up the reds and greens with different bright colors. Here we did just that by taking several different colors of candies in vases. Other vases out of reach of children’s hands could be filled with colorful deco beads topped with a simple bright gerbera daisy. Simple and oh so fun!
Sports-Themed Christmas Party: If you have a sports fanatic in your family, this Christmas theme is for you. Here we decorated a tree in all University of Arkansas gear. From hot dog, pizza, beer mug ornaments all the way to cheerleading flag ornaments, you are sure to get some great cheers from your biggest fans.
Check with your local florist for more ideas on using flowers to bring life to a party.
